The OPTIWAVE 1560 is a 2-wire 80 GHz radar (FMCW) level transmitter for liquid and solid applications with low pressure and temperature ranges of up to 5 bar / 72.5 psi and a maximum measuring distance of 30 m / 98.4 ft. It is the best-in class radar when cost-effective level measurement with high accuracy is required. Featuring a flush-mounted Lens antenna with a small beam angle of only 4° makes the radar particularly effective in very confined installation spaces such as extremely narrow vessels or openings. The high dynamic range of its measurement signal allows the instrument to accurately measure extremely agitated product surfaces and under other difficult conditions. The concave design of the Lens antenna means that it is self-draining in the event of condensation, ensuring stable radar signal strength at all times.

The OPTIWAVE 1560 is made entirely in PVDF, making it resistant to many chemical products and allowing for reliable level measurement of many media. The level radar comes IP68 rated, providing additional safety in very dusty areas or outdoor environments exposed to heavy rain or flooding. The 3" threaded connection of the radar is unique in its device class and offers flexible installation options. The level radar can e.g. be used with existing flanges without protruding into the nozzle of tanks and silos. It is available with bespoke accessories such as brackets and aiming kits, low-pressure flange, purge port connection or weather protection cover.

The level transmitter features a great deal of flexibility in terms of commissioning and adapting to different applications. The OPTICHECK Level Mobile app makes set-up of the radar level transmitter straightforward and convenient. The Bluetooth® connection enables device setup via mobile phone from a safe distance, eliminating the need for service engineers to stay on roof tops of silos or tanks or to manually operate the device for configuration or adaptation. The app guides operators step-by-step through the installation process, offering pre-configurations for various level applications and vessel geometries.

The level radar utilises the device diagnostics of the OPTICHECK technology built-in. This enables continuous self-checking of the device status. In addition, on-site verification and monitoring of configuration and measured values can be carried out via Bluetooth  in combination with the OPTICHECK Level Mobile app. There is again no need to interrupt the process, climb tanks, silos and other structures or work in confined installation situations. This simplifies operation and maintenance and contributes to increased occupational safety.
